Today we ran our second African Singing Workshop of the year for the Y3 and Y4 classes at Marlcliffe Primary School. The children were raring to go as we performed for them at the start – even swaying and clapping along! In just 45mins, with the help of our volunteers, Pete, our Musical Director, had the children singing Maleezwe, a Zulu song, in three part harmony and another song as a three part round! The workshop ended with the children performing what they’d leaned in front of the Y5s and Y6s. We were incredibly impressed with the children’s singing; their following of the conductor even rivalled Main Chorus! In fact, we have some plans in progress to work with the school again in semester 2! Thank you so much to all our volunteers who really gave the children the confidence they needed to pull off such a brilliant performance in so little time!
